What is mike von erich?

Mike Von Erich, born Michael Brett Adkisson on March 2, 1964, was a professional wrestler and a member of the famed Von Erich wrestling family. He was the son of Fritz Von Erich, a well-known wrestling promoter and wrestler, and the brother of other notable wrestlers like David, Kerry, Kevin, and Chris Von Erich.

Mike joined the family business in the 1980s, following in the footsteps of his elder brothers. He was known for his time wrestling in the World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) promotion, which was particularly popular in Texas. The Von Erich family was hugely influential in professional wrestling, especially in that region, garnering a large following.

Unfortunately, Mike's career and life were marred by personal and health struggles. In 1985, he suffered a serious shoulder injury that required surgery. Following the surgery, he developed toxic shock syndrome, which led to severe health complications. Although he eventually returned to the ring, he was never able to fully recover or compete at the same level as before.

Tragically, Mike's life ended in suicide on April 12, 1987, when he was just 23 years old. His death was one of several tragedies that befell the Von Erich family, leading the wrestling community to often refer to the "Von Erich curse." Despite these hardships, the Von Erich family remains an enduring part of wrestling history, with their legacy being carried on by surviving family members.
